Show Your Employees Gratitude

One of the most ironic truths about motivating your employees is that one of the easiest ways to motivate them is often the most neglected. Studies have consistently shown employees who feel appreciated work harder and better.

A simple thank you for the work they do and an acknowledgment that they are valuable to the company can work wonders, even if you do not tie these gestures to any tangible reward. One study found people who were asked to give feedback on a cover letter were twice as likely to respond to requests for feedback on a second cover letter when that request included a simple thank you for the first effort.

Join in on Customer Service Yourself

Many modern companies have a philosophy that everyone should be part of the customer service team. After all, the entire company is dependent upon customers, so why shouldn’t everyone pitch in? By doing a little customer service yourself, you can:

  • Learn useful things about the customer service process

Encourage Feedback From Customer Service Reps

People tend to be more motivated when they feel they have more control at their job. Encourage your customer service team to provide feedback about what works and what isn’t when it comes to customer service, and be sure you really listen to those ideas and implement the ones you find useful.
